Verse 20: Not Y2K again!?!

Hey! We recently saw various reports that Earth recorded its shortest ever day as 1.59 milliseconds was shaved off the usual 24-hour spin. While we have to admit we didn’t actually notice, it did make us wonder if this will take off a leap second at the end of the year and could potentially create problems for IT systems (think ‘Y2K bug’!). I guess we will have to wait until the end of December to see if we pop our Champagne corks 1.59 milliseconds earlier!

Among items of note in this issue of Verse, a biotech startup wants to copy you into an embryo for organ harvesting, scientists begin a study to see if AI smartwatch data can predict Parkinson’s disease progression and Engineers develop a super-adhesive that maintains its gluing properties across temperatures ranging from -320 degrees to + 400 degrees.
